Jenna and Ian’s September Mackinac Island Wedding at Mission Point resort will forever be one of my favorite weddings. Thanks to Lisa from LG Event Design, it all just came together so perfectly; the weather, the stunning view from the Mission Point lawn, the florals from St. Ignace in Bloom, the bride and groom being so in love and so so relaxed, everyone just had the best time.
Getting Ready
The day started with Jenna getting ready with all her girls at the Lakeside Salon and Spa (you can read more about why I love that spot so much in this post), her niece even helped her get her shoes on, so so sweet. Ian got ready with his guys in a suite on the Mission Point grounds and one super sweet moment was when his groomsmen surprised him with a very special bottle of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon. The entire morning was relaxing, fun, and so personal.
First Look
Jenna and Ian did a first look and private vow ceremony and it coudn’t have been more perfect. It was at this moment when I realized how much these two are in love. Ian and Jenna both cried when the saw each other for the first time and their vows were personal and heartfelt. When they finished, they lightened the moment with a lively high five and then we walked down the hill to their ceremony.
The Ceremony
The ceremony was just as fun as the rest of the wedding. There were four little flower children + ring bearers and they were all excited to get out to see their Aunt Jenna, they ran right down the aisle with one face planting about halfway. No tears, he just got up and kept on running. A beautiful freighter cruised past during the ceremony – a common but special sight in the Straits of Mackinac.
Portraits
After the ceremony, we worked on some beautiful family portraits on the main road at Mission Point, some lake side wedding party portraits, and then Jenna, Ian, and I headed into town to some of my favorite, quintessential Mackinac Island portrait spots and together we snapped some of the most beautiful portraits! After we were finished, they ducked into the Pink Pony for a quick shot and cheers from all the people at the bar.
Dinner, Dancing, and The Limbo
The evening ended with a delicious dinner, hilarious and heartfelt toasts & roasts by Ian’s best men and Jenna’s sisters, and then the most epic dance party with DJ Brevin – a limbo stick was even brought out at one point. Jenna, Ian, and their friends & family sure know how to have a good time!
